Why This is NOT your traditional Fruit Cake

We used to call these “fruit cakes.” That’s what Mom always called them. She was known throughout the community for making the best fruit cake around. She loved to make them and give them to friends and neighbors over the holidays. So when we started baking fruitcakes with her recipe, we called them Anna Mary’s Fruit Cake.

But, we soon realized that a lot of people don’t think highly of fruitcakes and some folks would simply reject the product because of a stereotype that didn’t fit our cakes at all. If they sampled the cake, the common response was, “This isn’t a normal fruitcake!” or “I don’t like fruit cake, but this is really good!” So we stopped calling it a fruit cake and named it “Anna Mary’s Gourmet Nut Cakes.”  After all, with pecans and walnuts as the top two ingredients it makes sense to identify it as a nutty product. And besides, “We’d be NUTS to call this a fruit cake!”

  1. Larry Ransom

I have been eating Anna Mary’s Nutcakes (I still call them fruitcakes) for well over a decade. For the longest I would purchase them at a Dutch Oven Bakery in Alabama. I’ve not been that ways in a while and was delighted to find I could order online. SO, I ordered a 5 lb ring for myself (which I cut up wrapped and froze most of it in smaller pieces) and 3 of the 28 oz loafs to give as gifts. They were appreciated by all.

    Keep up the good work.

I ordered a nut cake from Anna Mary’s last year and it was fantastic!
I have not eaten the cakes I just ordered but I’m sure that they will taste delicious as usual.

We purchased this size to be given away at Christmas to Family that loves our cakes we’ve shared with in the past. These are so good & we freeze some for later & these tastes just as great throughout the year or as far as they go!

  6. One Satisfied Customer For Life

Anna Mary’s Nut Cakes are soooo Delicious! I have tasted many different fruit and nut cakes over the last 30+ years and this is by far the best hands down. I first bought the 1lb loaf – it was devoured in 3 days… I then bought the 3lb which my family and I savored until the last bite was ate up 1 week. So this week I bought the 5lb and a 3lb so I can serve over the holidays. I had to get the extra 3lb just in case the 5lb disappears. If you are curious about this cake and love nuts then try it- I know you won’t be disappointed.

Best “fruit cake” ever !! More correctly named a nut cake. I order the large one, cut it up and freeze it. Have it for several weeks. As fresh as when delivered.

I was never a fan of fruit cakes until I happened up on these delights, at a deli cafe in Thomaston, GA. I send them as gifts & buy the large 5 lb. rings, to slice up, to freeze, to enjoy all year. You must try these!
